Pretty Pumpkins Review!

Go figure, the first time I hold an event outside it turns out to be the coldest day of the fall season!  The ladies who attended last Sunday’s Pretty Pumpkins event were troopers and I appreciate their willingness to brave the cold and design centerpieces.  Everyone was bundled up in layers with boots, gloves, scarves and hats. They came ready!  There were 19 ladies who joined me at Mount Republican Estate in Newburg, Maryland Sunday afternoon.  I am still amazed by the turnout and really touched that so many of my friends and family came out to support me in my first workshop endeavor. I loved meeting everyone and making some new friends!  There were a lot of great compliments on the event which was encouraging.  Hopefully there will be more fun opportunities like this in the future! I promise to wait for warmer weather or find an indoor venue!

First and foremost I would like to recognize our host Bridget O’Neill who shared her home and property with us for this event. This fun and firey lady was such a hoot!  She’s probably still talking about how crazy I was to keep the event outside in the cold! God bless you Bridget and thank you so much for your hospitality! We loved spending the afternoon at Mount Republican.

My good friends Maggie and Betty of Birds of a Feather Photography offered to step behind their lense throughout the event to capture the action.  They were busy bees designing with flowers and taking pictures. I really appreciate them sharing these images and all the support they have shown me and my business throughout this past year. Please check out all the fun we had making centerpieces! .

Flower photos

Believe it or not but getting these fall mums this late in November was a challenge. A lot of the growers have moved on to winter crops and are growing colors for use in Christmas designs.

Flower picking

Here I am explaining the various types of flowers and a few of the ladies were checking out their options!

Look, it’s the Michelin Tire Man designing flowers. ha!  That coat sure is warm but it’s not the most flattering…

I love how different they all turned out while using the same flowers. And THAT is the art of floral design!

I’m digging Bekki’s rust colored suede coat! She was so color coordinated with the days event.

My friend Erika of Love Nora Adornments brought four of her very fashionable girlfriends with her to the event. They had a great time and made beautiful arrangements!  I am standing in between two very special women in my life my adorable sister-in-law Margaret and my amazing MOM!  She drove all the way from Roanoke to be a part of my first event. That meant more than she will ever know.
